PUNE: The parents of Siya Goyal, the accused in the murder case of businessman Ketan Agarwal, stepped forward harshly blaming their daughter for the act. Her mother Pooja Goyal said that if she is found guilty, she should be punished by throwing her from the same place where her fiancé Ketan was thrown.
'If any of them are found guilty, they should be given severe punishment. Even if it is my daughter. If my daughter is found guilty, she should also be thrown from the same place in the fort where Ketan was thrown. The family had high hopes for Siya and Ketan’s marriage.
Ketan's family treated her with great affection and love. The wedding preparations were going well. They had made arrangements for her birthday celebrations. If Siya had any issues with Ketan, she should have discussed it with us. She never expressed any dissatisfaction about the wedding. We don't know anything about Chetan Chaudhary (Siya’s lover). She had spoken only to Ketan after the engagement. We don't believe that she has confessed to the crime. If the investigation proves her guilty, she should be given a severe punishment,' said Pooja Goyal.
A resort worth three crores was booked in Udaipur for the wedding. Siya’s parents said they had to spend Rs 5 crores on the wedding. Her father Pravin Goyal, has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack soon after hearing the incident. He also said that she should be given a severe punishment if found guilty.
The incident related to the case happened on June 18. It was initially reported that Ketan Agarwal fell into a gorge while trekking with Siya in Lohagad Fort. The initial conclusion of the police was that it was an accidental death. The Lonavala Rural Police had registered a case of accidental death. However, the shocking details of the planned murder came to light only after the CCTV footage of the ticket counter in Lohagad Fort was released.
