THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader and MP K Sudhakaran has expressed sadness over his removal as Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, saying he was removed without any justification. Sudhakaran said he had tried to revive the Congress after taking charge as KPCC president, when the party was in a severely weakened state. He said leading the party out of those difficult circumstances and steering it towards victories, including major electoral wins, were part of its history.
The MP said he was deeply saddened to learn that a group of people had worked to remove him from the post without any reason or justification. Such actions, which undervalue the efforts of those who shed blood for the party and stood by it, would in no way benefit the Congress, he said.
Sudhakaran also stressed that pointing out the government's mistakes was not the sole responsibility of the Opposition. He said people within the ruling side, too, should have the courage to question wrongdoing.
“The government needs fighters who point out its mistakes, not sycophants,” he said, adding that criticism should be accepted and that principles mattered more than power.
K Sudhakaran acknowledged that some people might disagree with him because of his political positions but maintained that positions were less important to him than the party and its movement. Sudhakaran also said his stance against violent politics remained unchanged.
