Girish AD’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit recently became the highest-grossing Malayalam film, earning Rs 330 crore worldwide. Chief Minister VD Satheesan has now shared his appreciation for the film in a social media post, saying its treatment reminded him of his childhood and the countryside he knew growing up.
Satheesan said the film stood out for its treatment and did not bore him even for a moment. He said he could immediately connect with his childhood memories, particularly the village side, its people, their everyday lives, the affection they shared and their warm romances. He added that he thoroughly enjoyed the film from beginning to end.
In his post, Satheesan said his busy schedule had interrupted his habit of watching at least one film a month. After a break, he watched Bethlehem Kudumba Unit in one sitting the previous day, accompanied by his daughter and her friend. He said they enjoyed the film immensely.
Recalling the experience, Satheesan said the film brought back memories of the village side he had seen during his younger days, the people who lived there and their ordinary lives. The love between people and the warmth of their relationships were among the elements that kept him engaged throughout. After watching the film, he wondered why he had taken so long to see it.
He also praised the way the characters were portrayed, noting that not only those who could be described as the hero and heroine, but even characters appearing in just one or two scenes, made their presence felt. The film made him laugh and occasionally feel sad. He said he enjoyed it from beginning to end and described it as a complete team effort.
Satheesan added that writing an appreciation note after watching a film was not something he usually did. However, he decided to share his thoughts because he had enjoyed the film so much and found the experience refreshing.
He said he had called director Girish AD and actor Sangeeth Prathap to congratulate them. He was unable to reach Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju by phone. Satheesan also mentioned Glikson as someone who had found a place in his heart, adding affectionately, “Poor Glikson.”
He concluded his post by congratulating everyone who had worked on the film.
