John Brittas, CPM leaders thwart police move to arrest SFI leader Aishe Ghosh

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police's move to arrest Aishe Ghosh, the former President of the JNU Students' Union and a member of the Students' Federation of India, went in vain following the intervention of CPM MP John Brittas and other leaders. The police reached the AKG Bhavan in Delhi at 3 pm today with the intention to arrest Aishe in a case dating back to 2021. Aishe was at the forefront of the CJP protest.

The police officers had to return after being confronted by leaders including John Brittas. The leaders denied police entry and demanded they show permission for a search. The police came without uniform or any identity cards. When questioned, police said they avoided uniforms due to the heavy downpour in Delhi.

The bevvy of women police had to return after the CPM leaders denied them entry. CPM General Secretary MA Baby said that the central government went back in their promise to not take retaliatory action against leaders involved in the CJP protest. MA Baby also alleged that the central government tried to kidnap Aishe Ghosh just like they did with Wangchuk at the protest site.
