NEW DELHI: The debate is back regarding the opener position in the Indian Twenty20 team.
After Abhishek Sharma's disappointing performance in the Zimbabwe tour, discussions ensued, and a demand was raised in some quarters to bring Sanju Samson back. Former Indian cricket captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth also shared his opinion regarding the topic.
Srikkanth expressed his opinion that Sanju be considered for another opening position with Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who performed well in the T20 series against Zimbabwe. Abhishek Sharma has not been able to show his quality in the last five T20 innings. In this situation, Srikkanth said it was high time the selectors took a tough decision keeping in mind the interest of the team.
"I am sure that Sanju Samson will get another chance. The selectors will have to take a bold decision," Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel. Meanwhile, Sanju had made it clear on Jiostar’s ‘Believe’ show that he does not want to be a part of the "rat race" of Indian cricket.
