KOCHI: Actress Manju Pillai brought clarification to her earlier statements regarding the much discussed mini cooper accident case. Manju had earlier talked about the case in her daughter and social media content creator Daya’s vlog, which eventually courted controversy. It is under these circumstances that the actress returned with a clarification.

“Three lives were lost in the accident. However, some questioned the three for travelling during night hours. Some others found it wrong for Hindu girls to travel with a Muslim boy at this late hour. To think in such a way right after a tragedy reeks of idiocy. These were youngsters pursuing their studies while working.

I am not justifying the three travelling on a scooter, and that too without wearing safety helmets. But why bring up the question of 'Hindu' or 'Muslim' here? The issue isn't why they travelled with a boy of a different religion; rather, the question should be why three were travelling together on a scooter. It is very important to question why the three were travelling on a highway on a scooter at midnight. However, bringing the Hindu-Muslim angle into such a tragedy is inappropriate and a shame. The law states that three people should not travel on a single bike, especially at night and without helmets. May the truth prevail," the actress stated in the video.
