Nithin Raj, When Dr. Ram was taken to the college for evidence collection

KANNUR: A group of students broke down in tears and apologised to Dr M.K. Ram when he was brought to Anjarakandy Dental College on Wednesday for evidence collection in connection with the death of student Nithin Raj.

The incident occurred around noon when the investigation team led by DySP Jeevan George arrived at the college. Heavy security had been deployed in view of the possibility of protests by students. Dr Ram was not taken out of the police vehicle, but some students who saw him broke down and apologised.

The Crime Branch team inspected the college building, Dr Ram’s office and the building from which Nithin Raj allegedly jumped to his death. The team had also inspected Dr Ram’s clinic before reaching the college.

During questioning, Dr Ram has repeatedly maintained that he had not caused Nithin Raj any mental distress or difficulties.

With the questioning and evidence collection completed, the Crime Branch is expected to produce Dr Ram before the court on Thursday. His custody was scheduled to end on August 1, but investigators have decided to produce him in court earlier as the interrogation and evidence collection have been completed.
