Gyanesh Kumar’s actions were against the nation; Modi and Amit Shah should face probe, says Rahul Gandhi

NEW DELHI: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Gandhi demanded the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.

Rahul Gandhi called Gyanesh Kumar a “traitor” and said the Congress would not remain silent while democracy was being destroyed. He also demanded a comprehensive investigation against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that elections had been rigged.

Rahul Gandhi said he had strongly opposed the legislation passed in December 2023 regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and had protested against the appointment process.

He said there were similarities between the alleged “vote theft” in Mahadevapura and the recent developments in Haryana. According to Rahul Gandhi, attempts were made, including by Gyanesh Kumar, to establish that no votes had been stolen in these cases. He alleged that Modi and Amit Shah had protected Gyanesh Kumar. He demanded that the CEC resign immediately and said that what had happened was a clear act against the nation.
