Sleeping woman killed after taurus lorry overturns on top of house in Adoor

ADOOR: A sleeping elderly woman died tragically after a Taurus lorry carrying metal overturned on her house. Mariam Beevi (65), the wife of the late Jaleel, of ‘Peedika’ near Parakkadu High School junction on KP Road, died. The accident occurred at around 3 am on Sunday.

The lorry, which lost control, crashed into an electric post on the roadside and overturned on top of the house. The lorry fell on the right portion of the room on the right side of the house. Mariam Beevi was sleeping on the bed next to the wall. The elderly woman, who was trapped under the debris of the wall, was pulled out by locals, police and the fire force. Though she was rushed to Adoor Taluk Hospital, her life could not be saved. The police registered a case against the lorry driver in the accident. His statement has also been recorded.

Mariam Beevi ran a basic grocery shop in the back of their house for years and lived alone after her children got married. The burial was done after the postmortem. Children: Shelni and Shelby.
