THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister and Youth Congress state president O J Janeesh has criticised the Governor's recommendation to the President to remove Kerala PSC chairman Dr M R Baiju and other members from their posts, calling the move unconstitutional. He was responding to reports that the Governor had acted on a complaint filed by the Yuva Morcha.

"The Governor cannot constitutionally take action to dissolve the PSC based on complaints submitted by the Yuva Morcha and ABVP. He should act on the recommendation of the state Cabinet. Hence, there is a concern that the Governor's action might end up helping the PSC chairman and those involved in the irregularities," the minister said.

"There is no dispute that strong action must be taken against irregularities in the PSC. However, such action must follow constitutional procedures. This is the Youth Congress's position," Janeesh said.

Meanwhile, differences have reportedly emerged within the Congress over the Governor's recommendation to remove the PSC chairman and members. While Minister K Muraleedharan supported the Governor's move, other leaders, including A P Anilkumar, said it violated constitutional norms.
