CCTV footage of the man taking the shirt from counter

KANNUR: A man allegedly pulled off a brazen trick to walk out of a shop with shirts without paying, but CCTV footage has now exposed his move. The incident took place at Orma Fabrics in Alakode, Kannur, where the man allegedly fooled the shopkeeper and disappeared with the clothes. The shop owner later shared the footage on social media, bringing the incident to light.

The man entered the shop asking for two shirts to give as gifts. After selecting them, he told the shopkeeper he wanted to show the shirts to his wife, who was waiting in a car outside, before deciding whether to buy them. He also asked the shopkeeper to pack the shirts in a cover, and the request was duly fulfilled. But instead of returning to pay, the man walked out with the packed shirts and vanished. The shopkeeper realised he had been duped only after waiting a considerable time for the customer to return.

The shopkeeper then retrieved the CCTV footage and shared it in various WhatsApp groups in Alakode. The move paid off when someone who watched the video recognised the man and provided information about him. Armed with the details, the shopkeeper went directly to the man's house. The man's mother then agreed to pay for the shirts, bringing the issue to a settlement.
