Gold of eight sovereigns missing from Karippur police station; former official under suspicion

MALAPPURAM: Gold has been found missing from Karippur Police Station. Gold of eight sovereigns recovered from various places has gone missing. The gold is reported to have gone missing last year. Kondotty ASP has handed over a report to Malappuram SP in connection with the incident. The gold recovered from public places and the airport was handed over to the police by the people.

It is clear that the gold was lost in 2025. Suspicion is being raised against an officer who was present at that time. However, a clarification will be obtained only after a detailed investigation. A gold chain, bracelet handed over to the station before 2018 and two chains, two earrings and a ring obtained in 2024 have gone missing. Some of these were recovered by officers of Karippur airport after found discarded.


Serious allegations have been levelled against the Karippur station earlier also. Three officers linked to the drug mafia have been suspended together. Now, it is being probed whether the drug mafia is behind the missing gold.
