Police, CRPF officers arrested for gangraping 23-year-old woman

CHANDIGARH: A 23-year-old woman was gangraped by policemen and CRPF officials. The woman from Fatehabad in Haryana was gangraped after being lured to a farmhouse with the promise of taking her to religious places in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. Four including two police officers of Uttar Pradesh and two CRPF personnel have been arrested in the case.

The investigating officers said that a woman known to the victim had asked her on September 20 to meet Mohit, a CRPF inspector from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, to visit religious places in Amroha. The woman then met Mohit in Sonipat on September 21. The two then travelled to Meerut, where they were joined by another CRPF personnel, Lalaram Yadav of Alwar in Rajasthan.

On September 22, while the three were travelling by car, Uttar Pradesh police sub-inspector Sanjay Tomar boarded the vehicle at Hasanpur. The group then took the woman to a farmhouse in Atrasi–Hasanpur and rented two rooms. Uttar Pradesh police head constable Pramod brought them food and alcohol.

The woman’s complaint said Mohit, Yadav and Tomar allegedly took turns to sexually abuse her. She said that when Pramod tried to abuse her, she forcibly pushed him out of the room. The woman then contacted the police.
