Expatriate found murdered and mutilated in UAE; Body found in car, phone message raises suspicion

ABU DHABI: A body of an expatriate was found mutilated in Sharjah. The dead has been identified as Alvin Prakash Kundar of Udupi in Karnataka. The body was found cut into nine pieces. The murder came to light in an investigation conducted after his family filed a missing complaint. His wife and son are also reported missing.

Prakash had been working in Sharjah Airport for the past 14 years. His wife Tina of Udupi, was working as a schoolteacher there. The couple’s son is a Class 10 student.
Anil Prasanth Kundar said that his brother Alvin’s body parts were found inside a car found parked on the way to Oman. The parts were cut into nine pieces and kept in two bags. There is no information about Tina and her son. The police suspect that they may have gone to India.

Anil said that he contacted Alvin on July 20, but could not speak to him. He later received a text message from him saying that he was fine. The message itself raised suspicions among the family. His family said that Alvin never used to send text messages and would normally send voice messages. Anil said that when he called again a week later, Alvin did not answer the phone.

Anil then requested Alvin’s friend Manohar, who is in Sharjah, to call on him and find out what had happened. Alvin and his family had been living in an apartment provided by his company. When Manohar made enquiries there, the security told him that he had gone to India. The company's HR department also repeated the same information.

However, Alvin’s family informed the company that he had not returned to India and requested them to make further enquiries. When his passport was examined, it was confirmed that Alvin was still in Sharjah. Following this, the family filed a complaint with the police.

An investigation conducted found Alvin’s body inside the car. The family is now waiting for the completion of legal procedures to bring his body back to India. His family said that they were unaware of any issues between Alvin and his wife. Police are also investigating whether Tina had any involvement in the murder. The Udupi police are awaiting information from the authorities in Sharjah.
