KANNUR: It has been 18 days since the disappearance of Sivasurya, the 17-year-old who left home incensed over his parents restricting mobile phone usage. Puliyanambram native Sivasurya left behind a note saying that he is heading off to Kashi to take up an ascetic life.
According to new details, the Kerala police will reach Varanasi on Tuesday as part of intensifying the investigation. A special squad led by Thalassery ASP Dr Nandu Gopan was formed to investigate the case on the specific instructions of Kannur City Police Commissioner Vijay Bharat Reddy.
Sivasurya was alone at his house on August 8th when he decided to leave. Despite collecting evidence from CCTV visuals and people who had seen him, the investigation failed to make any progress. The family had earlier complained about the laxity shown by officials in the investigation.
Though social media derided Sivasurya’s disappearance during the initial days, the expectation was that the police would soon find the teen and bring him to his parents. With 18 days gone and still no news of Sivasurya’s whereabouts, angst is worsening for the teen’s parents.
