Slight relief: No power restriction warning in Kerala today; consumers asked to limit usage

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is no warning of power restrictions in Kerala today. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) said it has received 400 MW of power from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. It added that restrictions may be imposed only if the availability of power from the power exchange falls.

However, a government circular has asked consumers and industrial establishments to limit electricity consumption between 7 pm and midnight.

The circular directed the Kerala Water Authority to carry out pumping during the daytime and asked households to use high-power appliances during the day. Consumers have also been asked to set air conditioners at 25 degrees Celsius. The circular, issued by Energy Department Secretary M. G. Rajamanickam, also called for avoiding unnecessary decorative lighting.
