
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V D Satheesan reiterated that the economic situation of Kerala is bad. He said big economic challenges are before the government and will ensure Kerala's progress through investors. He added that the government's goal is the comprehensive growth of Kerala.
The real picture of Kerala's economy is clear in the white paper released by the government. There is a shortfall of Rs 20,500 crore in the Rs 35,000 crore plan. The chief minister said that this government is facing financial challenges and economic difficulties that no previous government has faced.
‘Despite the economic crisis, the budget presented plans to create a new era Kerala within the constraints without increasing taxes by a single rupee. The budget aims to stimulate the economy, increase investments, and thereby fill the coffers by creating employment opportunities. The broad objective of the budget is to ensure equitable distribution of wealth using the money coming into the treasury and to keep the common people and the marginalized people together,’ clarified the chief minister.
He pointed that an extraordinary change is taking place in Kerala where the number of youths is decreasing and the number of elderly people is increasing as life expectancy increases. A more detailed study is needed on this. To retain the youth in Kerala, they will be provided with international standard higher education and professional education here and Kerala will be taken forward by creating employment opportunities, he said.
He added that big plans are being put forward to promote small, medium and micro industries and startups. The curriculum will be changed for new courses demanded by the world. The chief minister informed that Kerala will be made a state that gives the most importance to research in the field of higher education and the public sector.
He said that there are plans in the budget to improve and regain Kerala's position in terms of health and added that the government aims to make Kerala a major center where people from different parts of the world come for treatment.
