A Dutch-Moldovan couple identified as Wes and Nico have shared their experience of travelling on Indian Railways for the first time. The couple, who have been travelling across India for the past one-month, shared videos showcasing their unique experiences of train travel in the country through their Instagram account, ‘Boutique Diaries,’ on August 29.
Nico’s amusing reaction after being stunned by the crowd and commotion at Agra railway station also caught attention. The couple travelled from Delhi to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal. They had booked an AC sleeper cabin for the two-hour journey, with the total ticket cost for both coming to just Rs 660.
Nico said they had some difficulty finding their coach and getting to their seats on the train. However, once they reached the cabin, the experience was better than they had expected. The couple was impressed by the clean and spacious cabin, air conditioning, two berths, curtains for privacy, a mirror, lights which are working and other facilities. Nico said they were amazed to get a journey with so many amenities for just six euros.
Meantime, the couple was not impressed with the train’s toilet. Nico said it was untidy. They also said they were relieved that the journey lasted only two hours. The couple also shared their experience with the food service on the train. Nico said passengers could order food at their seats, while vendors also moved around the train selling food and beverages. However, they did not buy food from them.
Although the train journey was better than they had expected, the experience changed after they reached Agra railway station. Nico described the station as crowded and noisy.
At the end of the video, Nico jokingly remarked, ‘They are going to throw me out of Agra.’
The couple also said that more information about their travels in India can be found on their YouTube channel.
