Repeated threats! Stand-up comedian Pulkit Mani's three shows cancelled

NEW DELHI: Three scheduled events in Uttar Pradesh by comedian Pulkit Mani were cancelled. Pulkit faced the wrath of BJP leaders after he appeared on stage alongside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, mimicking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The cancellations for the shows in Noida, Lucknow, and Kanpur followed a heated political controversy sparked by his impersonation of Modi. Mani alleged on social media that the shows were called off due to repeated threats from goon activists; however, he did not specify the source or nature of these threats.

The controversial performance took place on September 19 during the 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' event in Indore. Pulkit joined Rahul Gandhi on stage at the event, which was organised by the Congress party to facilitate interaction with students. During the performance, he mimicked Modi's speaking style and body language. The incident became a topic of national political discussion after the Congress party shared footage of the event on social media.

BJP leaders despised the remarks about Modi's mother during the event. Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Piyush Goyal, and Kiren Rijiju voiced strong criticism. BJP leaders also demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi over the incident; however, the Congress rejected the allegation.
