HYDERABAD: A complaint has been filed stating that 11 weapons, including an AK-47, have gone missing from the military compound. The security breach was reported at the Madras Regiment in the Secunderabad Cantonment area. The missing items include AK-203, an INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) rifle, six pistols and ammunition. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The weapons were found missing on Sunday night. Following this, military authorities filed a complaint with the Bollaram police on Monday. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
Only authorised personnel had access to the area where the weapons were stored. Police also suspect the involvement of military personnel in the theft. The weapons are believed to have been stolen at a time when only a limited number of guards were on security duty. The Army and the Malkajgiri police are jointly investigating the incident.
