NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of India on the country recording 7.8% GDP growth, calling it a reflection of the nation’s collective strength and resilience. He also urged citizens to renew their commitment towards building an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India). The Prime Minister shared the good news through a video posted on Instagram from Kyrgyzstan, where he is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
‘Congratulations to the people. The 7.8% growth has filled the nation with happiness. I congratulate the people for their determination and hard work. This is a reflection of our collective strength. The world is engulfed in war. The world is surrounded by crises, and supply chains have been disrupted. From the COVID period until today, there has been no stability anywhere. Despite all this, India is moving ahead at a rapid pace.
7.8% growth.

Do not travel to foreign countries for tourism. Avoid having destination weddings abroad. Live by the mantra of ‘Marriage in India’. Unless it is absolutely necessary, avoid buying gold. If we move forward firmly on the path of self-reliance, we will be able to hand over a developed India to the country’s youth when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of our independence. Our policies are right, and our goal is clear. The unity of 1.4 billion people is leading the country to great heights,’ Modi said in the video.
