Chaos at 'Jana Nayagan' screenings as children enter A-rated shows | VIDEO

CHENNAI: Screenings of Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth and starring C. Joseph Vijay, were disrupted at select theatres in Chennai after families with children arrived to watch the film despite its 'A' certificate.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has awarded the film an 'A' certificate, restricting admission to viewers aged 18 and above. The presence of children at some screenings led to cancellations and delays.

At PVR Cinemas in Ampa Mall, police intervened and halted the morning show after families with children were found inside the auditorium. Theatre staff asked parents accompanied by minors to leave, resulting in a delay of nearly an hour. The screening resumed only after refunds were issued to the affected families and they exited the theatre.

A similar situation unfolded at PVR Grand Mall in Chennai, where the arrival of viewers below 18 delayed the scheduled screening as theatre officials enforced the certification rules.

Meanwhile, social media users alleged that several other theatres in the city had allowed children to watch the film without enforcing the CBFC's age restrictions.

Widely described as Vijay's final film before entering full-time politics, Jana Nayagan was released in theatres on July 23. The film has received a mixed response from audiences.
