Same year, different bonds: How Suchitra and Antony Perumbavoor became part of Mohanlal’s life

Antony Perumbavoor, who began his association with actor Mohanlal as his driver and eventually became one of the closest people in his life, has long been a prominent presence in Malayalam cinema. Apart from his association with Mohanlal’s film career, Antony has also played a significant role as a producer. Now, Mohanlal’s wife, Suchitra Mohanlal, has opened up about the close bond between the two.

Speaking in a recent interview with a YouTube channel, Suchitra said Antony’s role in Mohanlal’s acting career is significant. She said Mohanlal himself has often described Antony as being like a brother to him.

Suchitra recalled that she and Antony became part of Mohanlal’s life in the same year. She said she first met Antony after her marriage, during the shooting of Moonnam Mura.

According to Suchitra, Mohanlal had sent Antony to bring her to the shooting location. That was when she met Antony for the first time. Later, when Mohanlal said that Antony could accompany him, she agreed. Thus, both she and Antony became part of Mohanlal’s life during the same year, Suchitra recalled.

Suchitra also spoke about Antony’s ability to tell things that Mohanlal may not always be able to say directly. She said this is something people outside their close circle may not know.

She recalled that her siblings often jokingly compare Antony to the snake around Lord Shiva’s neck. According to Suchitra, Antony is willing to say “no” in situations where Mohanlal may find it difficult to do so.

Suchitra’s comments also highlighted how closely Antony looks after Mohanlal and his affairs. She said Antony has been a strong source of support behind Mohanlal in many matters.

While people may have different perceptions about Antony, Suchitra said his place in Mohanlal’s personal life and career is very significant.

“Antony is always there behind him. My husband cannot manage without him; that is how much he supports him,” Suchitra said.
