NEW DELHI: After a brief lull, Iran has once again launched attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears of a renewed conflict in West Asia. International media reported that seven ships came under attack the other night. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had attacked four vessels carrying oil illegally through the northern Persian Gulf. The attacks triggered fires on the ships. Iran also claimed that three other vessels caught fire after hitting mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
The MT AI Dasma, which was carrying 21 Indian nationals, was also reportedly targeted. The attack took place around 11 nautical miles off the coast of Bukha in Oman. Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said all crew members were safe.
