OTTAWA: An Indian woman was strangled to death in Canada’s Edmonton. She has been identified as Damanpreet Kaur of Ludhiana in Punjab. The Edmonton police have arrested her 22-year-old partner Ritish Kumar in connection with the incident.
She was found in an unconscious condition with serious injuries at her apartment in Silverberry on July 9 at 6.44 pm. Although she was rushed to the hospital, her life could not be saved and she died on July 12. Murder was confirmed in the postmortem conducted.
The police had concealed the cause of death during investigation. The police on July 23 revealed the cause of death. Reports said she was strangled to death. The police arrested Ritish on July 22. No one else is involved in the murder. Various organisations have started raising funds to bring the body to India.
