KAMAREDDY: A woman and her lover have been arrested in a case of killing her husband and faking it as an accident to get insurance money. The incident happened in Telangana’s Kamareddy district. Kancharla Renuka and her lover Kancharla Gangasekhar (37) have been arrested. Renuka's husband Kancharla Rajaiah (45) was murdered on May 22.

Renuka is a resident of Markal village in Sadashivanagar mandal. She had filed a complaint with the police stating that her husband had died in an accident after an animal hit his vehicle while travelling to his farm at night. However, the police, grew suspicious and examined the accident spot. A special team was later formed to investigate. Based on CCTV footage, witness statements, technical information and postmortem report, it was found that Rajaiah's death was a murder.

The injuries on his body were not like those of a road accident. The investigation then turned to Gangasekhar. He confessed to the crime during interrogation. Gangasekhar said that he had been in a relationship with Renuka for four years. The two decided to kill him to avoid any obstacle in their relationship and to get the insurance money.

After making him consume alcohol and making him unconscious, the accused killed Rajaiah after attacking him with an iron rod. Rajaiah, who sustained serious head injuries, died on the spot itself. The body and the bike were left on the road to make it look like an accident. The two were produced in the court and remanded.
