
BENGALURU: Noted writer and entrepreneur Indira Lankesh passed away at her residence in Bengaluru Monday morning. She was 83. She was under treatment for old age ailments for quite some time. She was married to noted Kannada writer and journalist late P Lankesh. She was staying with her daughter Kavitha Lankesh and son Indrajit Lankesh. Her eldest daughter Gauri Lankesh, a writer and journalist, was shot dead by a group in September 2017.
Born on June 2, 1943 in Shivamogga, Indira married P Lankesh in 1960. They later moved to Bengaluru. When Lankesh quit his job and started producing films and plays, Indira Lankesh helped him financially by selling sarees at home. Later, in 1979, she started a sari shop, Mayur Silks and Textiles, in Gandhi Bazaar. Indira Lankesh has written several books.
