KOCHI: Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan stopped his car, stepped out midway, breaking protocol after seeing an accident victim lying on the road, waiting for medical assistance. The chief minister arranged for his escort vehicle to take the victim to hospital. Chief Minister continued his remaining journey without police escort. The Chief Minister came to the aid of Alvil Perera, a native of Mulavukad, who suffered injuries after being struck by a car from behind.
The incident occurred around 4:30 PM yesterday on the Container Road, near the Nihara Resort in Kothad. The Chief Minister was travelling from North Paravur to inaugurate the Kudumbi Seva Sangham conference at the Ernakulam Maharaja's College auditorium. He ordered his convoy to stop after seeing Alvil lying unconscious on the road.
He instructed Vipin, the Maradu CI who was part of the escort team, to take Alvil to the hospital. The Chief Minister resumed his journey only after Alvil had been taken to the hospital. CI Vipin stated that Alvil regained consciousness shortly after arriving at the hospital.
