THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The court ordered an investigation against CPM leader EP Jayarajan in the case of manhandling Youth Congress workers inside an Indigo flight. The court rejected the police report that gave a clean chit to EP Jayarajan. The court directed the police to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident and submit a report. The action is being taken by the Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.
The incident in question took place on June 13, 2022. The Youth Congress protested against the then Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who had arrived from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram by IndiGo flight. The protest was related to the gold smuggling controversy. Later, Youth Congress activists, including Farzeen Majeed, alleged that EP Jayarajan roughed up activists inside the flight.
Although the Valiyathura police investigated this complaint, they submitted a report to the court stating that there was not enough evidence to initiate a case against Jayarajan. However, the court rejected this report and clarified that the case could not be dismissed. The court ordered that an investigation be conducted into the complaint against EP Jayarajan and gunman Anilkumar and a report be submitted.
