THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) garnered a record achievement during the Onam season. On August 31 alone, KSRTC earned Rs 10.8 crore in ticket revenue. Last year, KSRTC had earned Rs 10.2 crore on the same day. This year's collection marks a significant increase compared to last year.
In view of the heavy Onam rush, KSRTC operated 4,461 services this time. Several additional services and long-distance services were introduced to manage the rush and reduce inconvenience to passengers. The increase in the number of people travelling long distances contributed to the record revenue.
On Chathayam day alone, KSRTC received a collection of Rs 8.07 crore. A total of 22,02,992 passengers travelled on its buses on that day. KSRTC earned Rs 7.88 crore on Uthradam day and Rs 4.77 crore on Thiruvonam day.
