Outbursts in AMMA general body meeting; Mohanlal attends, Mammootty skips

KOCHI: Unconfirmed reports say some outbursts were witnessed in the general body meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Some demanded to disband the governing body. Reports say that a section prepared a no-confidence motion against the governing body. The leadership has been accused of bringing disrepute to the organization.

The draft of the no-confidence motion demands that the governing body has completely failed and that the administration be handed over to a temporary committee. The image of the organization has been stained and why the annual show was not held this time, asked the members.

The meeting is being held at Chittilappilly Square in Kakkanad. The complaint filed by actress Ansiba Hassan, who resigned from the post of joint secretary, against actor Tini Tom and actress Lakshmi Priya may be discussed in the general body. Ansiba is attending the meeting. Prominent actors Mammootty and Suresh Gopi have skipped the meeting. Among the leading actors, only Mohanlal is attending the meet.

It is reported that serious allegations are being levelled against the leadership for serving liquor at IFFK and why a new venue was chosen at a cost of Rs 4 lakh when a free venue was available. Who gave permission for all these. Major discussions and criticisms regarding the presentation of the annual accounts are also raised. Forcing Unni Sivapal, the treasurer of the organization, to take leave has led to major controversies.
