THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Veena T, daughter of opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan, in the monthly payoff case. The summons issued has asked her to appear for the interrogation on June 29 at 10.30 am at their office in Kochi.
The ED had questioned her for nine hours last Wednesday. The questioning which started at 11 am ended at 6 pm. The case is in connection with the financial transactions between Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) and Veena's Exalogic Solutions. The income tax disputes resolution board found that CMRL paid Rs 1.72 crore from 2017 to 2020 as remuneration for IT services provided by Exalogic, but the company did not receive any such services. Based on this, the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) started an investigation and later the ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The ED officials had opened and examined Veena's bank lockers the other day. Veena was summoned and the locker in HDFC Bank near Thiruvananthapuram Ayurveda College was opened. However, it is hinted that no documents related to the monthly payoff case were found in the locker. Security by central forces were there for the search. The search continued for three hours.
