KANNUR: A Bangladeshi citizen, arrested from the Ezhimala Naval Academy had obtained a job as a cleaning worker at the academy through his father-in-law. Bip Lob Soren (32), son of Bangladeshi national Anil Soren, was arrested from the Naval Academy the other day. An acquaintance of his father-in-law had arranged the job for Soren.
Naval authorities arrested him while he was staying here without revealing his Bangladeshi citizenship and without the required documents or a valid visa. His wife of Kolkata, also works in the cleaning section. The couple had been living in the academy with their child.
Police said Bip Lob Soren had studied up to Class 10 in his home town. He later went to Murshidabad and worked in various places, including Kolkata. He then travelled to several places in Gujarat and Chhattisgarh and later+ to Mumbai. After his behaviour raised suspicion, Naval Academy officials questioned him for several hours on Friday.
During questioning, documents establishing his Bangladeshi citizenship and other details were discovered. After a detailed investigation and evidence collection by the navy authorities, Bip Lob Soren was handed over to the Payyannur Police.
On interrogation, it was found that he had lived and worked at various places in Kerala. After examining the phone and documents in his possession, the investigation team found that he had allegedly used forged documents to stay illegally in the country. Based on these findings, charges including offences related to national security may also be invoked against him. A report regarding the matter will be forwarded to the central intelligence bureau.
