Nishanthini appointed South Zone IG; Sparjan Kumar gets Transport Commissioner post

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Intelligence IG R. Nishanthini has been appointed South Zone IG, while G. Sparjan Kumar, who was serving as South Zone IG, has been appointed Transport Commissioner. C.H. Nagaraju, who was the Transport Commissioner, has been appointed Intelligence IG.

During Nagaraju’s tenure, the Motor Vehicles Department took steps to eliminate middlemen from its services. The department had 60 online services, with plans to make all of them faceless and Aadhaar-OTP authenticated; 21 services were already being delivered through faceless systems.

However, differences of opinion had reportedly emerged between the Transport Minister’s office and the Commissioner over several issues, including the mounting dues to Keltron for the AI-camera project and disciplinary action against officials. Recent reports have linked Nagaraju’s transfer to these differences.
