KOCHI: Three Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) employees, including an Assistant Engineer, have been suspended after an internal vigilance probe uncovered alleged financial irregularities involving several lakhs of rupees.
Those suspended are Assistant Engineer Ganesh Kumar, Sub Engineer Girish and worker Eldo, all posted at the KSEB's Pothanikkad Section Office in Muvattupuzha.
According to the vigilance report, the officials allegedly misappropriated money collected from consumers for services such as shifting electric posts, power lines and electricity meters by failing to deposit the payments with the KSEB. They are also accused of providing unauthorised electricity connections, causing financial losses to the utility.
Ganesh Kumar and Girish are office-bearers of Left-affiliated trade unions. Sources said the case is likely to be handed over to the state vigilance department for a detailed investigation, which could lead to further action.
