Special warning for five districts including Ernakulam; IMD predicts heavy rainfall in coming hours

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The meteorological department warned of heavy rains in the state for the coming hours. There is a possibility of moderate rain and strong winds with a speed of up to 30 kmph at isolated places in Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kasaragod districts in the next three hours; light rain at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts.

The Low Pressure Area located in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent north Odisha-West Bengal coasts had intensified into a depression.

Moving in a northwesterly direction, it is likely to intensify further and turn into a deep depression. It is likely to make landfall between Paradip and Sagar islands along the north Odisha and West Bengal coasts by the afternoon.

Another low-pressure area continues to form over West Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Light to moderate rain is likely in Kerala till July 30. There is also a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places in Kerala during these days.
