ALAPPUZHA: Ambalappuzha MLA G. Sudhakaran has once again expressed his displeasure over the inauguration of the Makkekadavu-Nerekadavu bridge. He had publicly shared his displeasure about the inauguration the other day through a Facebook post. Sudhakaran stated that since he was the one who initiated the bridge project, he could have at least been sent an invitation letter to the event. He also criticised both the LDF and UDF for taking a narrow-minded approach toward development projects.
At the same time, Sudhakaran warned that shutting down KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board) or changing its system would adversely affect construction projects. He stated that the Public Works Department (PWD) alone cannot carry out all construction activities. He also alleged that K.M. Abraham and others were responsible for these issues.
"Would this bridge have become a reality if I hadn't been the minister?" Sudhakaran asked recently. He criticised the LDF for failing to even acknowledge that the construction began during his tenure. He noted that the inauguration ceremony should not have been turned into a platform for a political campaign. Sudhakaran pointed out that while former Chief Minister K. Karunakaran’s picture was included, his own picture was nowhere to be seen at the event venues. He clarified that the project was initiated during the first LDF government by allocating 80 crore rupees when he served as the Public Works Minister.
He also took a dig at UDF leader Shanimol Usman for not inviting him. Sudhakaran said he had not expected an invitation from her, adding that she was not broad-minded enough to do so.
