‘A man who shaped an entire generation; Bhagyaraj Sir was a rare talent'; condoles Mohanlal 

Mohanlal has offered condolences on the demise of veteran actor and filmmaker K Bhagyaraj. In a Facebook post, Mohanlal said Tamil cinema had lost one of its true voices.
Tamil cinema has lost one of its most original voices today. Bhagyaraj Sir was a rare talent, a filmmaker, actor and storyteller who shaped an entire generation of cinema with his wit, warmth and vision. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans,’ penned Mohanlal.

Bhagyaraj passed away Saturday morning following a heart attack. He was rushed to Apollo Hospitals after he was found unconscious, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

His death has sent shockwaves in the Tamil film industry and among his fans. He is survived by his wife, actress Poornima Bhagyaraj, and their children, actors Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Saranya Bhagyaraj.

Bhagyaraj last acted in Kuberaa starring Dhanush. He had informed his decision to return to directing films at an event held in January 2026.
