KOCHI: In a star-studded event, the United Democratic Front (UDF) hosted a massive civic reception in Kochi to honour the newly appointed Chief Minister, V. D. Satheesan, along with regional ministers and legislators. The gathering at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kadavanthra witnessed high-profile surprises with the unexpected attendance of Malayalam cinema icons Mammootty and Kunchacko Boban.

Speaking at the event, veteran actor Mammootty drew parallels between reel and real-life politics, noting that while he has portrayed the role of a Chief Minister for states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh on screen, administering a state in reality is an immense challenge. "Chief Minister Satheesan shoulders the profound responsibility of addressing the grievances of every citizen and ensuring justice for all," Mammootty stated, while fondly recalling that the Chief Minister is also his college alumnus.

In his keynote address, Chief Minister Satheesan articulated his government's socio-economic vision, redefining the traditional concepts of infrastructure development. He emphasized that true progress lies in elevating the living standards of ordinary citizens rather than merely constructing mega-structures.
"The public treasury belongs to the people, and it will be distributed equitably. Our upcoming state budget, scheduled for presentation on June 19, will explicitly reflect this welfare-oriented roadmap," Satheesan announced.
Taking a firm stance on social cohesion, the Chief Minister reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward divisive politics. He emphasised that secularism and communal harmony remain foundational to Kerala's identity, urging the public to boldly project the state's progressive values to the world.
The celebrations are set to continue later this evening in the Chief Minister's home constituency of Paravur, where cultural stalwarts, including superstar Mohanlal and veteran lyricist-filmmaker Sreekumaran Thampi, are scheduled to felicitate the leader.
