Eight, including seven women from same family, drown in Bhatkal river; death toll likely to rise

BENGALURU: Eight people, including seven women, drowned in the Thatte Hakkalu river in Uttara Kannada in Karnataka. It is reported that many people were swept away while bathing. The death toll is likely to rise further. Search operations are underway at the spot. Police and local authorities have reached the spot. The incident took place near Bhatkal. No further details have been released.

It is reported that all the victims are members of the same family. The search is ongoing for the three missing people.
