'Third-stage cancer, chemotherapy will start soon'; Renu Sudhi talks about illness for first time

There were strong rumours in the recent past regarding a health emergency alerting popular social media star Renu Sudhi. Kerala Home Design Group founder Firoz, who helped build a house for Renu in the name of her late husband and artist Sudhi, had earlier confirmed that rumours were indeed true. Now, Renu broke the silence over the issue in an online interview, revealing that she was diagnosed with cancer and the disease has already entered the third stage.

RENU SUDHI:

“I hid it from those who loved me for so long. But now I felt it was time to tell. I first noticed a lump in my breast when I was 15. That lump is now cancer. I didn't pay much attention to it at that time. I didn't tell my family either. When I was studying for my diploma, my family found out and took me to Kottayam Medical College. Although it was not found serious, the doctors warned that it might develop into cancer in the future.

After Sudhichettan's (husband) death, I did a scan once as per the doctor's advice. The doctor, who was suspicious after seeing the scan results, suggested a mammogram and biopsy. That's when the cancer was confirmed. I took the results home and didn't tell anyone. It was my manager, Karishma, who first asked me if there was any problem. She told the news to my sister. First, I was examined at a private hospital and then at the medical college. The cancer was confirmed at the medical college. Chemotherapy will start soon. The details were only known to a few friends, the manager, family and cousins. I’m totally positive, and it is the thrill of living every day that is taking me forward.”
