THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister C P John said that even if a woman passenger is willing to pay for an ordinary bus operating under the Priyadarshini scheme, the conductors cannot accept it. Taking money in such a way will cause various difficulties, the minister said while addressing the press. The minister said that ordinary buses are not being converted into city fast buses.

There are city fast buses only in Thiruvananthapuram. 384 city fast buses are there. Not a single ordinary bus has been converted into city fast. The sticker of city fast has been affixed for identification. Two city fast buses have been converted into ordinary buses. Pozhiyur-Anchuthengu and Pappanamcode-Vikas Bhavan services have been converted into ordinary buses. 18.56 lakh people travelled in ordinary buses on June 16. The government should pay Rs 2.46 crore to KSRTC for that day, clarified the minister.

Meantime, the minister responded to the allegations related to the purchase of buses during the tenure of the previous government. The minister said the secretary of the transport department will investigate the allegations of irregularities.
