THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of fresh Nipah cases being reported in the state, opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan stepped forward strongly criticizing the health department. He alleged the department has failed to treat the threat with the seriousness it deserves.
Pinarayi blamed the government and the health department of lacking coordination and said the present situation is very pathetic. The opposition leader pointed that Health Minister K Muraleedharan should have come or intervened in the situation where Nipah was reported again, but that did not happen.
Meantime, the opposition leader criticized the government over the recent devaswom pleader appointment. Describing the appointment as strange, he asked how such a decision could be made without the knowledge of the devaswom minister.
