KOCHI: The police have registered a case against YouTuber Thoppi for posting obscene images on social media. The Ernakulam Rural Police registered a case against Nihad, known as Thoppi, under the IT Act. The FIR said that he posted obscene images of his friends. An investigation had been initiated against Thoppi and his gang on a complaint filed by lawyer Sreejith Perumana. The police took action after checking Thoppi's social media accounts.

‘They have polluted cyberspace by showing masturbation in a blurred manner on YouTube live, which was being watched live by lakhs of children. In addition, they are publicly sharing phone audio clips that abuse even women from the families of prominent celebrities in an extremely obscene manner via live. They have talked very lightly about drug mafia connections and atrocities falling under the purview of POCSO, and now they are blowing away all femininity and dignity,' said Sreejith Perumana. Thoppi’s former friends exposed the crimes. They are also accused of defaming singer Hanan Shah's family.
